Interesting Article On Pure Breed Dogs (Breeds in Danger of Extinction)

This is an interesting take on how time and personal interests have changed the registrations seen by AKC over the years… It really shocked me to see that only 10 dogs represent over half the registrations… Not to mention the difficulty of finding information like this.
In my humble opinion this also shows how breeding has moved to more of money making industry rather than the passion of a particular breed…
For me the take away is simple, if you are going to choose a purebred dog, do your research… Know the difference between a good breeder and a not so good breeder. The same goes for choosing between a shelter dog and a bred dog… In the end do not make impulse decisions when it comes to getting a pooch, it is a lifetime commitment and you should be an educated owner not the other way around?

Before You Choose Your Next Dog
Whether you’re considering a purebred dog, a shelter dog, or still trying to decide what’s right for your household, the most important takeaway is simple: do your homework first.
As a Kansas City dog trainer, I see the long-term consequences of impulse decisions every day—mismatched breeds, unrealistic expectations, and families overwhelmed before training ever really starts.
