OK I love this article it really goes over some of the big mistakes people make when not realizing what to do with a new dog! None of these mistakes are made on purpose and in many cases we think we are doing the right thing! None of them are mean or nasty but can have real issues (like taking a dog back to the shelter within the first few weeks). The author also does a really good job describing the right way to handle the issues! The only thing else I would suggest is investing the money of having a professional trainer come out to your house after the first week to meet your family and the new dog and go over frustrations and help set new rules and routines…  Then after approx of month or so doing a group class with the family and the new addition to work on more formal dog training… This investment of one private session and one group class can make a huge difference in success or failure…
